Recently, sporadic cases of COVID-19 have emerged in several regions across China, once again raising public concern about the epidemic situation. Many localities have issued notices encouraging migrant workers not to return home unless absolutely necessary and to spend the Lunar New Year at their workplaces. However, as the Spring Festival draws near, many migrant workers are now wondering whether they can actually go back home for the holidays. The companies’ response is clear: unless absolutely essential, all employees are strongly encouraged to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Hangzhou.
Our out-of-town employees are among the most beloved members of our company. They’ve traveled great distances to come to Hangzhou and build a second home here. Although the year-end is approaching and some of them are feeling homesick, when they reflect on the difficult resumption of work at the beginning of 2020, they realize that if the epidemic continues to worsen, returning home at the start of the new year could once again become a major challenge. If you were to return this time, not only would you add to the workload at inspection stations at all levels across the country along the way, but the risks you’d face during your journey would also be highly unpredictable—risks that could even extend into your home village or community, placing you squarely in their focus. Upon your return, the Xiaoshan District government will assess your risk level based on your place of origin and determine whether you need to undergo a nucleic acid test or enter quarantine. Therefore, for your safety and that of your family, celebrating the New Year where you are now will be the wisest choice we can make.
When celebrating the Spring Festival in Hangzhou, we must strictly implement the “Ten Strict Measures” for epidemic prevention and control issued by the provincial and municipal authorities, and continue to uphold the “Six Musts” requirements for resuming work and production in the city. We encourage everyone to avoid large gatherings and minimize unnecessary travel during the Spring Festival, refrain from visiting relatives or friends and going on sightseeing trips to medium- and high-risk areas, and avoid holding gatherings or dining events with more than 10 people. Each of our employees should take good personal hygiene precautions—wearing masks and washing hands frequently—and make every effort to ensure both their own safety and the safety of others, thereby creating favorable conditions and making adequate preparations for the company’s resumption of work and production in early 2021.
